There is a stated ambition that the renewable energy sources will meet 70% of Ireland’s electricity requirements by 2030. So, we can expect a continuing focus on sustainable energy projects.

 A Solar Farm (Wikipedia) In recent months the number of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects (or solar farms) being put forward for development in Ireland has increased significantly. Assessing the impacts on archaeology has proven to be a significant element of the associated planning process. With no clear instruction from the National Monument Service to the local planning authorities or archaeological consultants on how to approach these sites, developers have been fielding varied requests for further information and planning conditions.
