SUPERVISOR
Serena joined Rubicon Heritage as post-excavation supervisor for the M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Motorway Project in July 2022. She has over 15 years’ experience in archaeology, physical anthropology, paleopathology and archaeothanatology. She has worked on numerous archaeological and academic projects in Italy, Romania, and Iran. She moved to Ireland in 2019, since then she has worked as post-excavation assistant on various road projects developing a keen interest in processing finds, alongside her PhD research, which pertained a large-scale osteological analysis of the medieval cemetery of Enisala Palanca (Tulcea County, Romania), aiming to reconstruct population size and composition, lifestyle, and health status. She completed her PhD in March 2023. In her current role, Serena oversees all the tasks related to the processing and management of finds, environmental and bone samples, archiving, and liaising with external specialists.
