Callum has been working as a field archaeologist since 2010 and has worked on numerous archaeological projects (both commercial and non-commercial) gaining wide-ranging knowledge of both fieldwork and post-excavation practices. He has contributed to a variety of archaeological projects in the UK, from the new school building at Dwr-Y-Felin Comprehensive Upper School in Neath to the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route road scheme. His work has also taken him abroad including the survey of the Mgarr-Ix-Xini valley on the island of Gozo, Malta.
Callum specialises in Roman archaeology and researched the zooarchaeological impact of the Roman military upon the hinterlands of the legionary fortresses at Caerleon and Chester for his Masters’ thesis. He has also presented and published his findings to a variety of audiences.
