The MTSU Center for Historic Preservation & Rubicon– Exciting Times in 2016!

In 2014 Rubicon’s Damian Shiels traveled to Tennessee to deliver a keynote lecture on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Franklin. While there he also met with students from the Middle Tennessee State University Center for Historic Preservation and discussed some of the issues surrounding Irish conflict archaeology. That talk proved to be the start of a burgeoning relationship between the MTSU Center and Rubicon. Next year, one of the Center’s PhD scholars, Michael Fletcher, will travel to Europe to intern with us in both the UK and Ireland, something we are very much looking forward to. Michael has just written about the importance of these international relationships and his impending internship on the MTSU blog, Southern Rambles, which you can read here. Apart from Michael’s internship, we also hope to work closely with MTSU Research Professor Dr. Stacey Graham and her Study Abroad class when they visit Scotland next year. All told 2016 promises to be an exciting year of partnership with the Center, something that we hope can go from strength to strength in the future.
