Industrial Archaeology From The Air: Hafod Ironworks, Morfa, Swansea

We have recently been carrying out substantial archaeological excavations at the former site of the Hafod Ironworks in Morfa, Swansea. The works operated from the mid 19th century to the mid 20th century and produced iron mostly for use in the adjacent copper works, latterly manufacturing brass. Our investigations were carried out on behalf of Persimmon Homes, and the post-excavation work is currently underway. We were delighted to get the opportunity to have some UAV footage of the site, taken for us by Thomas Haywood Photography. Rubicon’s Jonathan Millar has edited the footage and added a soundtrack, making it available on the Rubicon Heritage YouTube channel.
